After overcoming foul trouble in the first half, the Wolfpack concluded Tuesday evening with an 84-70 win over Florida Atlantic. Three of the Wolfpack starters in Nikitta Gartrell, Lucy Ellison, and Bonae Holston received two fouls apiece in the first 10 minutes of the first half. The Wolfpack was led by the efforts of redshirt junior Amber White and freshman Marissa Kastanek, who combined for 45 points in the game.
Amber White’s career high of 25 points and another strong performance of 20 points from Marissa Kastanek paced the Wolfpack as they connected on 57.7% of its first half attempts. With that being said, the Pack never led until the 5:31 mark in the first half on a three-ball from Marissa Kastanek, which put the Pack up 26-25. The last 5 minutes of the half consisted of a 23-6 run for the Wolfpack, as they led 42-31 at intermission.
Much was the same in the second half as NC State came out of the locker room and extended their run to 33-6 as they scored the first 10 points of the half. Rebounding was easily the key point discussed at the break, as the Wolfpack collected 32 of the team’s 50 total rebounds after the break. After halftime and once the Wolfpack settled in and gained momentum and control, the FAU Owls never moved within 14 points of the lead.
In a quick start to the season, Coach Harper and the Wolfpack looks toward their fourth game in a week span as they host the Davidson Wildcats Friday at 7pm at Reynolds Coliseum. A win Friday would give Coach Harper her 100th career coaching victory early in her 6th year of coaching.

19 Responses to "First Half Surge Pushes Pack Past FAU 84-70"could there be separate pages for mens' and women's basketball? not offense to the ladies, but i have to scroll through their stuff to get to the mens. this way, those who are interested can just click the link.
I agree
Oh no, you have to use your poor arrow keys.
wow, can't believe you folks are asking for that. i am not that interested in some of the articles on here, such as those about the former players playing overseas, but i just skip those.
Congrats to the women's team on a nice win.
We're launching a brand new site design in a few days....it will be a lot more organized and aesthetically pleasing. It will have seperate pages for Mens bball... football... womens bball..and Past players. (as well as a moderated forum)
What has happened to Simon Harris????????????????????
^ He came back from Ireland. Things just didn't work out over there. It wasn't Simon's fault at all. We'll let him explain if he wants to, but he's taking a short break from his column while he sorts a few things out.
News does not sound like it was good . I guess here you only work like pravda voice of the people if it fits? That is weak hoss
WPH any chance the new features on the new site can have Forums?? I know alot of people would love to talk about something that may not be in the main article... Also allows better conversation flow if a new article is posted over the original..
for the record, I've never followed WBB, but I've enjoyed reading about this new coach and team. I might actually attend some of their games this year.
I've thought about going to a game too.
This Friday night game will be a good one to go to. Harper is going for her 100th win as a head coach.
I'm glad to see the Women's hoops coverage here. We've got a good program, a new coach and some real excitement for the future. Besides, the games are fun. If you want to see proper fundamentals, team play, and a group that plays with a lot of heart, then check out the WBB games at Reynolds. Did I mention that they're practically giving tickets away and that you can score great seats?
Will the new site still be a pay site?
Didn't I read that there would be some Luke video? Did I read that? If so, can't wait!
Anon,
Not the case at all. It's about peoples privacy. Nothing bad happened with Simon. Sometimes teams aren't exactly run the same way overseas that they are in the states, that's all we'll say about that.
Jason,
We're trying to get out and get some Luke footage this weekend, so that means only one of us will be in Daytona to cover the games. We'll see what we can do.
Nice, I'm forward to the Daytona coverage and Luke video. Thanks wph!
(anon pulling out some cold-war lingo!)
I meant to say "I'm LOOKING forward...."
-Jason
I am looking forward as well
Fernando
