Apparently Ryan Harrow and Mychal Parker's performance at the King James Classic this past weekend didn't go unnoticed. Brian Snow of Rivals wrote a recap of the event and the headline of the article was the Ohio Basketball Club vs. All-Ohio Red game from this past Saturday Night. Here is what he had to say about Harrow and Parker:
"All-Ohio came into the game as the favorites, but a revamped OBC roster gave them the talent to compete with All-Ohio. OBC came out of the gates strong. Mychal Parker and Ryan Harrow were on fire for OBC. Harrow, who is committed to NC State, used his athleticism and quickness to provide issues for All-Ohio. Parker, at 6-foot-6, was simply unguardable. He was too big for the All-Ohio guards and too quick for their forwards."
Snow also talked about how Mychal Parker shut down Adreian Payne, who happens to be a 5 Star recruit, and the #2 Center in the nation.
I got the chance to catch up with Ryan tonight and get his thoughts on the weekend and what it was like playing with Parker. He told me that the two of them really enjoy playing well together. He said that they compliment each other well. Whether it is helping each other on defense or dishing each other the ball. They both sense when the other needs to step up and make a big play. The two seem to love playing together and he told me that they had talked about the possibility of doing that at the next level.
Ryan Harrow's mission to help bring in the best players with him continues.

Judging by this article, Parker seems to be a good defender. Is that truly the case or one game? This brings up an interesting topic. Could someone [who knows] comment on how good our recruits are suppose to be at defending? I'm starting to read this site more than the premium websites. Thanks Wolfpack Hoops!!
Reel 'em in Ryan.
Good players want to play with other good players. Now that Ryan is starting to get a little more attention (well deserved) other players will take notice and want to play with a point guard of his caliber.
Ryan Harrow
Mycal Parker
Luke Cothron
CJ Leslie
Now that would be an awesome class.
Every time I feel depressed about missing on Favors, Cousins, and Wall (likely), I go and read some more awesome press about Harrow. Already feeling better :-)
Looks like Ryan is starting to add some weight too.
Kris,
Good question. With points and assists always being the sexy stats, a lot of people forget to talk about defense.
Lorenzo Brown- Simply put, a lock down defender. This kid can sit down and get a stop. He's long, he's smart and he's quick. This guy will be our stopper.
Richard Howell- Smart and physical, Howell is probably the next best of our commits on the defensive end. He's got an engine that won't quit.
Josh Davis- Plays hard, understands team defense, and loves (and i mean loves) to come weak side for a brutal block.
Scott Wood- Haven't seen much of Wood on D. What I have seen I'll say this..the kid plays hard. He has the frame that could get pushed around in the ACC but from talking to him he knows this. He's downing protein shakes and hitting the weights hard this offseason.
Ryan Harrow- Quick and smart. Harrow could use a little more bulk to bang in the ACC but he's very quick and can be a real thorn in the side of whoever he's guarding with those long arms.
The underlying issue is this...with the players Sidney is bringing in, you no longer need to ask "will this guy play defense?" B/c if you refuse to defend you won't be picking up a scholarship from NC State. Those days are over, Sid knows what he wants and as you can tell, he's starting to get it.
any idea when rivals and scout will update their new ranking systems?? end of the summer?? maybe its just me but im extremly excited to see where ryan is moved to after multiple strong showings, proving to be one of the strongest PG in the nation....
What happened to leslie?? Has he decided to just move on to other schools? at first i thought he would decommit to try to get noticed nationally more if he was uncommited but that doesnt seem to be the case. (since hes already one ranked as one the top 15 players in the nation)It seems he's moved on and so has state do you get that feeling too WPH?
Is state still recruiting maybry as well, I had heard through the grapevine he was interested at one point. love the site keep on going!!! (even though sometimes i cant sign into my name w/o having to change my password everytime on my google blogger account any ideas WPH??)

I say forget about Painter. I'm sorry but we need that scholly for next year. We need some depth at SF and Parker would be a great fit. Especially if he and Ryan become good friends. The only scholly that should be given out at this point is to Wall, because even if he accepts it will still be available for next year when he leaves.
PackLeader-
-I think they will re-evaluate at the end of the summer and then at the end of next basketball season. I'll check into this to make sure.
-We are still recruiting Leslie and we are still high on his list.
-I don't think Mabry is a major target for the Pack at this point. Some have speculated that he holds an offer, but I wouldn't be so sure.
-Sorry, not sure what the deal is with the Google account. Appreciate you signing your name at the bottom though.
2010 is shaping up real nice if Parker and Cathron and Leslie are in the class. Wow, that would be an amazing class.
^^Remember that even if we were to scoop Painter in this class there would still be 1 scholly available.
^^How is that? Wouldn't that make 6 in this class? Then Javi, Mays, CJ, Johnny, Tracy, Farnold and Dennis. That's 13...0 left. Right?
^I meant one scholly available for 2010, not one more after Painter for '09.
^i think he meant 1 scholly available for next year (in addition to harrow's.) b/c horner and farnold will be gone.
^Yup. Sorry for any confusion.
Don't we want to save 2, considering we are going after Cothron, Parker and Leslie? I'd hate to use one that we might need for those guys. Plus there'd be some major scholarship spacing issues.
Telep and Daniels have said they will update 2010 VERY SOON (within the next few weeks even). They like to do a pre-summer evaluation and a post summer one.
^Thanks Oneproof. Good scoop.
Right that's what I'm saying...if we take painter this year we only have one more scholly for next year. One scholly to split between Leslie, Colthron and Parker. We should save one.
^You are correct.
This could be looked at in a couple of ways. For instance, maybe the staff feels really good about Painter's abilities (remember he was committed to Florida) and they aren't sure they will land Cothron or Leslie. If we could land 2 players out of this list: Parker, Painter, Cothron, Leslie...I think we couldn't really go wrong. I trust Sid...if he is going hard after Painter, then there is a reason.
WolfPacker do you see Ryan possibly coming in and starting as a freshman? Or will Lorenzo have the pg role?
I see Zo filling the role of SG for us more so than PG. He might spell us at times next season at the point, but I'm expecting a backcourt of Harrow and Brown in the future.
What showcase or tourney is ryan headed to next
Ryan will be playing with the Atlanta Celtics in a tournament in Kansas this weekend. We'll have more info later in the week.
the fact that ryan has been able to step in on a team that he hasn't been playing with at until now and emerge as a star with such great chemistry with parker speaks very highly of the caliber player we'll be getting in him. NC State is going to be surprising a lot of people in the next couple of years.
How in the world can these kids afford to travel and play ball every weekend? Also, any chance that Parker will be joining Harrow in Kansas? They seem to be on the same team every week.
As of right now Parker plays for the Richmond Squires and Harrow plays for Team Atlanta and the Atlanta Celtics. This past weekend was a situation where they both wanted to play at the King James, and neither of their teams were going. They found out that a team (Ohio Basketball Club) was in need of a couple of players and they joined them for the weekend. This happens quite often. It is what C.J. Leslie did at the Boo Williams. C.J. runs with the Lake Norman Wizards but he jumped on to D-One that weekend.
With that being said, I wouldn't be surprised if they jumped on a team again at some point this summer. If it happens we will know, and so will you.
Anybody want to start up a team and see if we can get Harrow, Parker, Leslie, and Cothron to suit up?
^Now that's a thought.
Have you haerd anything about how Johnny Thomas' knee is doing? Is he getting better?
^^ Knowing the NCAA, they're already putting sanctions on us for thinking about it.
O small update, Evan Daniels confirmed Harrow "is worthy of being in the top 75". He even went as far to say as he's making a strong case for top 50. I think it's pretty much assured he will be getting his 4th star (ironically his rise is almost akin to Wall's at this point).
^^LOL...considering they made students take down the "John Wall please come to NCSU" facebook page, I don't think the administration would be too happy about us starting that AAU squad.
^We'll need a coach. Is Chucky Brown available?
^ haha I played ball with Chucky at Lifetime fitness in Cary last summer...so i'm guess he's still in the area ; )
WPH...any inside info on how hard we are recruiting Parker? There hasn't been a lot of info. lately on some of the other Pack sites about him, but he seems like a kid we should be after hard. I would think with the reported bonding between he and Ryan, the time to strike would be now. Your thoughts?
Talked to Ryan and he said that Mychal told him that Pete Strickland was up to visit him last week. Coach Strickland said that they would be pursuing him as a major target.
