We mentioned earlier that we've received word that NC State is targeting a new, highly touted, player in the 2010 class. His name is Will Barton and he is a high energy 6'6 shooting guard who can do it all. He is long, quick and has a silky stroke from long range. Barton hails from Baltimore Md and has impressed enough scouts to be ranked as a 5 star prospect and the #1 shooting guard in his class. He holds an offer from the Pack and lists them as one of the schools he is considering. Here is a quick glimpse of the 2010 super star:

Now if you are a PG under 6-2 you're labeled a shrimp and have to be incredible to get noticed. It's amazing the skill sets these kids have developed.
What are the chances that we are high on Will's list, WPH? We are going to have to 'make room' for great players next year if Harrow, CJ Leslie, Luke Cuthron and now W. Barton decide to commit. If Sid starts bring in classes of this magnitude every year, he is going to turn the nations attention towards Raleigh and NCSU. I really hope that this is the path we are headed down. Go State.

With the offers that Barton currently holds I think it will be a while until he trims it down. However, Coach Harris is Will's contact and if you look at some of the commits he has pulled in the past I'd guess that we have as good a shot as anyone. Honestly, Larry Harris is someone who doesn't get enough credit. For the past 10 years that guy has been battling top notch programs for top notch players, and more times than not he gets his man. I'm confident that we'll push as hard as we can and I wouldn't be surprised if Barton became our #1 target for next season. (but that is just speculation)
WOW! That kid has fantastic length. That drop step to a dunk about 3/4 of the way through was sick nasty. Looks like a heck of a player.
I really like the fact that Larry Harris is recruiting him too. I totally agree Wolfpack Hoops, Larry doesn't get enough credit. He is definitely the best recruiter on NC State's staff and I am truly glad he came back from the desert.

Unfortunately fellas it looks like he is about as much a lock to UK as one can get. Apparently he will be taking a visit to UK this month with his mom and they will most likely seal the deal.

Lowe seems to have really improved as far as recruiting goes but if we add another recruit this year, and Painter would be a huge help, that only leaves two scholarships open for next year. Harrows already committed, so I say take Painter now and Cothron next year to give us a solid front line
Wall/Painter both to be coming to NC State. Painter is taking his last official visit this week-end to Maryland but it is just to be respectful because they were recruiting him the first time when he chose Florida so he is honoring his word by visiting Maryland. He will be in NC State red next year and he will qualify to play this upcoming year. Wall and himself have been in talks with 1 another and Wall will be joining him at NC State next year ! This will all be set in stone after the Painter visits are over on Sun/Mon .... I will reveal my source and my name after it has been announced, I have to stay protected for numerous reasons until this unfolds
If we take Painter this year we have 3 guys in one class for the front court (two classes if any of them redshirt). I say take Painter this year and a 2/3 next year to go along with Harrow. Barton and Parker would meet that need. I hate to say that with so much talent on the board (Barton, Parker, Leslie, Cothron, etc.), but you have to have a balanced team.

Unfortunately Kentucky is going to be a huge factor on the recruiting scene in the coming years. Fortunately we've already seen our staff go toe to toe with Cal and Kentucky which shows that this staff feels like they can recruit against the big dogs. As far as Barton committing to Cal this early, I wouldn't put it past him but I also feel strongly that he will wait and evaluate all his option before pulling the trigger.

Yes, last time I heard (about a week ago) we were still going full tilt for Parker. We also have a certain 2010 commit working on him as well.

Thanks. We did cover this earlier, but I'll say it again. I wouldnt worry about our scholarship numbers. Our coaches can count and they have a plan laid out. There are "options" they have as far as the roster goes.
kid looks like he has the charisma of one Julius Hodge. Built a little like Hodge as well.

The truth of the matter is We look to be in good standing if painter and wall fall thru... My question is if the staff feels they can over recruit then does that mean someone may not qualify or is someone going to leave due to loss in playing time?

Will Barton looks like he deserves being ranked as one of the highest prospects of the '10 class. A very long and very athletic SG. If we get Painter in '09, he'd be a great pickup next year. If no Painter, he'd definitely compliment Harrow and another big-time big in '10. Either way, I hope he seriously considers running with the Pack, the guy can ball. It'd be quite a refreshing change to have several go-to guys in the backcourt.
...and after watching the video again, I'd like to add that he can really stroke it. In addition, with his size and athleticism, he could also be could potentially be quite the mismatch at the 3 in a couple years.

if you are some legit source then thank you so much for posting. But i'm just not going to buy it. Why can't you just email WPH and show that you are legit or that your source is...then they can say "he seems like an ok source, or we have no reason to believe he is lying" no matter what since you can't reveal anything we will never know for sure (which is the beauty in these type of forums) but at least you could get a little cred to your story that way.

I ask from 1 wolfpacker to another could you guys pick up the phone tuesday night after the show from 8-9 on FOX and then you have 2 hrs to vote and all I ask each NC State Wolfpacker to do for me is to vote for Danny 10 times per person to help his chances winning the American Idol crown. He is a HUGE NC State fan ans he is just a good guy. Can you guys do this for me PLEASE. He would be a absolute true American Idol. My wife and I used to be huge into American Idol as we are both singers. We don't watch it religiously anymore, but have gotten into it recently as it has gotten down to the good singers. Danny is definitely our favorite. Glad to hear he is a Wolfpack fan though I haven't seen him touting his fandom like the Tarheel that went out a few weeks back. Good luck to Danny.
On the Wall/Painter note, whether anon tells WPH who he/she is or not, wouldn't it be hard to confirm his/her true identity? I'm just going to assume Anon is a troll and hope for the best on both Wall and Painter. Others in the know are concerned about Painter making his trip to MD.

While no one can say where Wall or Painter is going to land at this point....I can say this. In your statements you stated something inaccurate, and it's something your should know if your that close to the situation.
Wall and Painter very well could end up with the Pack. Or Wall could end up at KU and Painter at Maryland. Either way, I think it's best to just leave this rumor alone for now.

I just ran into John Wall at the mall and introduced myself. I asked him to come to N C State and he said he would keep it in mind. He seamed really nice and even my wife thought he was. Made my day. Hopefully I didn't break any NCAA violations by trying to lure him to State ala my facebook page!

I don't actually think ANON said any specific date; I could be wrong though. In any event, in my gut I personally feel John Wall may be mapping out his chances of being in this years NBA draft. I think that's why this process is taking so long as he has till June 15th. My guess... we won't hear anything until after that point. As far as DeShawn Painter goes-who knows...
