Well, I have a quick question about the jerseys for next year. Are we actually going back to last year's or are we getting another design that is somewhat similar? The Technician was not clear on this.

^ I'm pretty sure they'll be new jerseys but I think it's the same design for the most part. We'll try to find out more.

You know it's funny. People (including myself) are getting excited about Harrow and then what ever other possible pick-ups we may get but I have to say... I'm actually starting to get jazzed about this year. Wood just seems like someone who's going to surprise a lot of people. Painter is also an interesting one along with the likes of Howell. Then there are the others- which have at least one season under their belts and there have it... for me at least, I'm excited!

    GO WOLFPACK!!!

I liked parts of the new jerseys. I hope they just put the NC State on one line or drop the NC altogether

WPH, whatever happened to the shirts you were selling. I wanted one, but they never got my size in. Now the store is gone...

There's been complications with the shirts...more on that later.

Someone asked earlier on how Horner was doing. As far as we know, both him and Johnny are coming along as scheduled.
Someone brought up something about C.J. Limping. As far as we know he is perfectly fine. Who knows, maybe he turned an ankle, but he is fine.

Also, from what we hear, Painter has been dominating in workouts.

It's hard to say how our team will match up. I think a lot matching up (believe it or not) is going to depend on a number of things: how good Wood is, what sort of presence we're going to have from Smith and if our guards have matured to the point of being able to soundly manage the court. Guard play is key and it's something we've missed. I just hope the light goes on. If we can get some good inside outside play, penetration and be stout on D we could fair pretty well.

As for freshmen, I really think Wood is going to surprise some folks... who knows, maybe even rookie of the year. Howell is somewhat of a dark horse but I think his contributions will be all around good but nothing outstanding however, eyes will light up for his potential.

I think other teams will have better guard play but will lack in the other needed component-a powerful wingman (sort of like fire and ice) I don't see that anywhere in the ACC although I probably haven't really looked hard enough to be perfectly honest.

I think our points are under the radar and will do well. Experience is important and they can all shoot. I bet Degand will surprise in his last go round.

74Doug-Degand... he is someone I've kind of forgotten about. He was (if I remember correctly) starting to look pretty decent before his injury. Who knows, he may surprise some people.

I am always excited about basketball, no matter where we are projected to finish. Of course I am also excited about Zo and Ryan coming next year, too.

I have heard really good things early about Wood. I wouldn't be suprised at all if he is in the starting line-up to provide some (much needed) scoring.

Can't wait to see the freshman this year.

Do you think Wood could start at the 2 or the 3? I guess it may be determined by whether he could guard other wing guards.

Scott has been shooting the ball really well in practice from the report we were given. He probably is going to slot in at the 3 with CJ at the 2.

Also heard that DeShawn Painter is showing a lot of versatility. He actually has been running drills with the wings in recent workouts.

    WPH -

From everything I here we should expect a starting line-up of:

    Javi
    CJ
    Wood
    Painter
    Smith

Is this consistent with what you are hearing??

When does practice officially start, anyone know when the red white games is? Our first exhibition games is Nov 5th.

Our team is shockingly thin at the guard spots IMO which unfortunately remains a issue we have been unable to deal with. Looking at the rooster on Gopack, we are a team of mostly big men with 5 guards

Javi, Mays, Cj, Woods and Degand. If we really are going to see any improvement this year - Wood needs to be prepared to be assertive, CJ definitely needs to have improved, Javi needs to be consistently the good Javi and Degand needs to give us something, anything. I think Mays takes a big jump from freshman to soph. I actually think this team is closer to being good than people think, I think we were the same way last year, competitive, close but couldnt win the tight ones, couldnt push over the hump. I hope we can find something early on instead of searching for combos in the middle of ACC season.

Still - excited, looking forward to Lowe getting all the pieces, I really think he could be good at and for NCSU in the long run

^^ As far as a starting line-up goes, I don't think the coaches have a real firm idea just yet. Remember, they are just working out and haven't started practice yet.

Painter has certainly been impressive by all accounts, but remember that he is still a freshman. Dennis Horner's 3 years here will surely give him an advantage come game time.

Javi is going to have to beat out Degand and Mays for that starting role. Degand is healthy and more focused than he's ever been.

I do believe that you'll see CJ win a starting role, but honestly anything can happen when practice starts.

Hey, I'm just as excited as anyone, but let's lay off singling out freshmen as THE KEY player. They're freshmen, if they're good then all the better, but lets not place an added burden on any freshmen by continually calling their out names, and acting as if the season is riding on their shoulders.

Can we just let 'em play a game first???

His knees aren't giving him any trouble right now which is good and he should be ready for the season.

Whether by design or necessity the experience Painter is getting at the wing could prove a stroke of genius. If Horner gets himself mentally and physically reay for a full season at PF then it would be a great fit to out these two together. Horner as a Lowe system veteran knows his way on the court and will set screens, inbounds the ball and be the high-low feeder that we need to insure Tracy gets touches down low.

Meanwhile the true freshman Painter can just play a freestyle athletic attacker- the role I believe Sid always wanted to see Fells in. DeShawn can attack loose balls and crash the boards better then Dennis and that would free Horner up to play a perimeter 4 and step outside AND having a head less distance to go to stop a fast break against us.

    PG: Mays or Javi
    SG: Degand
    SF: Painter
    PF: Horner
    C: Smith

My guess is that we will get some different looks to start the game but that this line up will definitely be a solid finisher.
