Ryan Harrow Re-Evaluated

This is a day that we have been waiting for for quite some time. People keep asking 'When is Ryan Harrow going to be re-evaluated?' Previously Ryan was a 3 Star recruit that was unranked. We have all known that this would soon change. And change it did. Scout has re-evaluated the 2010 class and let's just say Ryan took a jump. Scout now lists him as a 4 Star recruit, the #50 player overall in the 2010 class and the #10 Point Guard in the class. While we believe that Ryan can, and will, continue to move higher in the rankings, we are excited that he is getting the credit that he deserves.

It seems as each weekend goes by, Ryan's name is beginning to get thrown around more and more by recruiting analysts along with other players who are considered the elite of the class. This weekend Ryan will be playing with the Atlanta Celtics at the Jayhawk Invitational. Phog.net did a preview of the tournament and highlighted some of the marquee players that were going to be there. Here is what they had to say about Ryan:

"Ryan Harrow, PG, Atlanta Celtics- Even though he’ll be one of the smallest guys in attendance, few at the Jayhawk will be able to match the future North Carolina State floor general’s eye popping athleticism. Quick and built to score, don’t be fooled by his slender frame."

We will have updates from the Jayhawk Invitational throughout this weekend, so stay posted.

Let's remember something here. Coach Lowe offered Ryan before anybody else knew about him, a 3 Star prospect, who was unranked and held no other scholarship offers. Doubt him if you want folks, this man knows what he's doing.

I just read the full article from PackPride (scout.com), and I have quite a few observations. The first being congrats to Ryan, some credit to him that surely seems long overdue.

The second, CJ Leslie is now the best player in the N.C. followed shortly by Luke Cothron, two players we're both after (And to some we may be leading for both). I like this because we're going after targets in our state, which is what TOB and Co are doing as well. We have a talent rich state, so why not pick up some of these guys... Also, I know you guys here at WPH reported Cothron as saying there was a 'bond' between he and Coach Lowe; however, the packpride article mentions this, and something I didn't remember you guys reporting: He could see himself playing for Coach Lowe...Good stuff there.

The third being Mychal Parker has an official offer from us, so let's up Harrow can keep going after him.

The last being a new target in Will Barton? Have yet to hear anything about this, but they say Coach Harris is going hard after the Baltimore native. Any information on this would be appreciative as he is the number 10 player in the class.

Coach Lowe continues to go after top talent, and you have to respect that. We'll get them sooner or later.

Great blog.. your work is very much apprectiated.

I am a firm believer that Sidney is great evaluator of talent. Other coaches will be watching where he goes!

Very good to see Ryan get bumped up in the rankings. It is well deserved. I agree that he will continue to rise, but despite his talent I have a feeling he may not rise as high as we would like to see him go. The fact of the matter is that there are a lot of talented guards/players in this class so it will be tough. Good luck to Ryan. I hope he can get up in that top 25 range and add that 5th star and have a shot at the McD AA game. It would certainly be a more entertaining game with him involved. And a HUGE CONGRATS to Coach Lowe on finding a talent like Ryan early and making him a priority. You can see his eye for talent (Wall, Leslie, Harrow, etc.).

    AWSOME NEWSS!!!! FINALLY

now we can stop nagging WPH about what his new ranking will be haha ;)

If he is top 50 in the nation before the summer of his senior year, Imagine what he can be with more work and some weightroom time!!! GREAT JOB SID!!!

    anonymous-
interesting news about parker getting a 'ship and will barton. I have never heard of him but if harris is after him, He MUST be good.

IMO who cares where CJ and Cothron are ranked we will take either one and then a third party, (parker, barton, painter)....

GREAT STUFF WPH!!! it goes unsaid but no doubt your postive and informative basketball info is helping not only NCSU but the future players aswell!!!! KEEP IT UP

It looks like Barton is the #1 rated SG by scout for this class. He would be a big get. I would think that SG would be position that we are pretty stocked up on though.

I'm anonymous from earlier asking about Will Barton...Just for the record.

I have also just seen we're in the running for a 2011 PG in Naadir Tharpe. We're his third favorite school being Zona and BC...Any news on this would be nice as well.

ESPN ranks him at a 92. He's 5'11 and 180 lbs. While I know things change frequently for kids in high school it's nice to see Lowe in there early with these kids.

I've been saying all along that Coach Lowe is a great evaluator of talent. Remember he was on Ryan Kelly long before he had any stars and long before Duke came calling. Same with John Wall and now obviously Ryan. I still strongly believe he will be able to coach bc we saw what he was able to do with an 85% healthy Engin Atsur. Remember our 2 national titles sit on that bench and pour their heart out for this team. They deserve a decent, to say the least, shot of changing our program around. I have faith that they will. Go Pack!!

I wouldn't be surpised if announced tomorrow... that he was going to trim his list next Friday!

Ryan, I hope that you can sense the enthusiasm surrounding, not only your recruitment, but the future of Wolfpack Basketball in general. We love Sidney Lowe, too. We have loved him for 26+ years. We have loved Monte and Pete for longer than that, (supposing one is a bit older than I). These are legends in Raleigh, and we are honored to have them back here to try to reclaim what is rightfully ours, Tobacco Road! We started all this, and we mean to take it to the Devils and the Tarheels. Thank you for choosing the Pack, and congratulations on the new ranking. And remember, to be the best, you have to learn from the best. You have chosen wisely grasshopper.

We're very proud of Ryan too. He's worked very hard and we know him and his mother both really wanted him to have a favorable showing after this evaluation period. Ryan sees it as the bigger his name gets, the more other great players will want to play with him.

As for Wall. I'm going to give him a call tonight. I'm guessing he wont be answering calls from the media the night before his big announcement, but we'll at least give it a shot.

"I wouldn't be surpised if announced tomorrow... that he was going to trim his list next Friday!"

Close. Try Monday. Unbelievable! This kid is milking it for all he's worth! What will he know next week that he doesn't already know today???

I heard someone said he should write down the names of all his "short list" schools on pieces of paper, put them in a hat, and draw one. Then tell him not to open it, but to announce the name of the school that he HOPED he had just pulled out of the hat. That would tell him where his heart is.

I think he should do that. In the meanwhile, I'll stop worrying about him. I figure when he makes his announcement, THEN I'll know. I'm tired of thinking about it.
