PACK LANDS PAINTER!

Sidney Lowe just keeps'em coming as he scooped up another 4 star recruit today. Deshawn Painter, a 6’9, 200lbs PF committed to the Pack in a signing that sures up a depleted front line that lost two of its starters (and leading scorers) in Costner and McCauley. Painter who many had given up on after his coach declared him not qualified and shared plans of having Painter reclassify as a class of 2010 prospect. This signing puts what many see as the finishing touches on an already superb recruiting class that should be credited to the hard work of Sidney Lowe and staff.

Painter officially chose Florida over NC State and a list of other schools, but when playing time became a question he began to waiver on his decision. Finally de-committing, Painter claimed that his recruitment was “wide-open,” however before he could blink, NC State head coach Sidney Lowe came calling. With an open scholarship and a desperate need for some front court depth NC State and Painter are the perfect match. Painter chose the Pack over Maryland, who is also in desperate need of some front court help. We’ll be on this situation as close a possible, but this is great news for the Wolfpack and we should all be extremely excited. With this signing NC State will surely be closing in on the top 10 recruiting class nationally. We’d like to be the first to welcome Deshawn to the NC State family and look forward to watching him in the red and white.

Sidney Lowe strikes again. He is finally starting to get the caliber of players he needs to run the style of offense he wants. I think I speak for everyone when I say I am excited about the potential of the NC State Basketball team. I think the big winners in this Deshawn and Richard Howell. Being able to compete on a day to day basis with super talented big's is only going to benefit both of them. Great Job Lowe, and Welcome Deshawn.

P.S. The "Anon" you did get this correct and for that you get a "clap". However, if John Wall is still considering NC State then you are the only source who is stating this. Everyone else who is in the "know" has already claimed that he is NOT going to NC State. Would be a big surprise to me if Wall lands at State.

Sweeeeet!!!Very, Very good news for the Pack!!

Is there any reliable information out there on how his 2009 qualifying is going? Does he need to take the SAT or ACT again? Or is he waiting on his final grades from around graduation before he knows if he qualifies already or needs to restest?

All indications are that Wall is down to two schools: Miami and Kentucky.

I don't know if anyone knows me on this site, but this is my first night posting on this site, hope I'm welcomed here?

I once frequented another NC State blog but it seems that they consider anyone who comments in a halfway positive manner about NC State BB and/or Sidney Lowe, as "idiot board" material.

It's good to be on a site where very positive accomplishments are seen as just that, "very positive accomplishments", and where people don't think they have counter every positive step in the right direction with gloom and doom personal opinions that are based on their own dim views of the universe.

You will be welcomed here by me, as would any Wolfpack fan who wants to discuss issues about the program in a constructive manner. WPH is hard lined about his vision of the site. ^thursday,

About that "certain ark builder" I don't really know who named that boy, but if his name sake was half as negative as he is, there wouldn't have been ANY gopher wood arc for ANY two of ANY-thing to get on to begin with. As a matter of fact, the entire planet would probably have just flooded faster, due to all the crying brought on by his gloom and doom predictions.

The "arc builder" is a disgrace! Everytime I posted something positive on the other site here he came to shoot it down. The best thing I remember from him was when he told me the football team would go winless in the ACC. I don't even read anything on there at all and no one else should. When the Fowler rumor came about they said that he was getting fired and that they were 95% accurate on what they report. WolfPackHoops can vouch for me when I knew for a fact that the meeting was about hiring Harper. But I did not feel a need to post that on the other site because I knew I would be called an idiot. I frequent PackPride and this site, this is by far my favorite site! The negativity is not as present here as other sites and that is why I enjoy it. WPH keep up the great work and let's watch the WolfPack Football and Basketball programs become great!

However I am wondering can you dip into your Wall source and see if we still have a scholorship available for him if he woud decide to come here this year or does this signing close out any chance that we land John Wall. While this is a great pick-up for the Pack, I'll be more excited about this team when they show something tangible on the court, not on paper. It's great everyone is so positive here, but feelings don't put the "ball through the hoop". I'm sure we've all been positive about this team before, but we've haven't really seen any success outside of Lowe's first ACC tournament run. While this gives us another athlete, and the potential for more success, we need to keep everything in perspective until things begin to change in the win column. Not being negative, just honest. We all want to win and hang banners, just seems that some of us are content being positive while other are waiting for actual results. None of you can honestly say you haven't thought previous recruit X, Y, or Z was going to be "the one" to change things.

WPH great site, love the in depth information about recruiting. Thanks for providing another great site for the community!

I frequent as many NC State related sites as possible on a daily basis because I love the Pack, and want to get as much information and opinions on topics as possible. Then from gathering information and reviewing multiple perspectives, processing that information into an intelligent opinion on a topic. I would hope none of our fan base is blind enough to follow any site like a sheep without questioning or forming their own opinion. I haven't visited a site yet where they don't respect your opinion even if you don't agree with the author - as long as it is based in something reasonable and you aren't personally attacking others. Its funny how many of you all are so willing to bash a certain site. No one makes you go to any website, so if you don't like it stay away, but don't try to futher divide a great fan base. We all want the same thing for our team, just have differnt thoughts on how to get there.

WPH thanks for the forum, and sorry for the length!

Coach Sidney Lowe has a plan, and he's methodically working it. He has a vision of where he wants to be, and isn't letting detractors get to him in the short term. That's the kind of guy that you want. He may be able to do this revamp much quicker than I would have thought. He keeps getting these guys. If his guys get experience this year, and get a 5-star point guard next year, my goodness...

    TampaPack,
I hear ya, but I choose to enjoy myself along the way. There are just some places where there appears to be excessive negativity, whining and complaining, those are not traits I can relate to, so why waste time with it. I choose to treat our coaches and team members as part of a family. I'll err on the side of being overly supportive and optimistic every time.

Sid's team will start out struggling due to the influx and high young content, but I'm looking for improvement by year's end and next year will be awesome.

looking ahead the lineup will be vastly differnt. able to run up and down pushing the ball or setup in the half court. running a high post or two low post players. this is somthing this team needed, along with players that can handle the ball and attack the rim or middle of the zone.DeShawn,Howell and Smith must play above the rim the rest of the guys must lean how to get to the rim off the bounce.D-fencesssss is the next place to make improvement rebounding and blocking shots and blocking out on the boards they must push themself to play the whoooole game.

^It's true. We don't want everyone to descend into the pit of despair when next year is rocky due to inexperience. But I'm beyond excited about the next year after they've had a year and a summer together, plus Harrow and Parker and/or Cothron... It's essentially the UNC model. They brought in McCants, May, and Felton and let them grow together. They all left and Ellington, Lawson, and Hansborough do the same thing (granted Travel Hansborough was a year older, but same idea). Florida comes to mind too with Horford, Noah and Brewer. This is by no means a one year deal. It's just the beginning of a system set up to be relevant for years to come.
