Harrow and Team USA Can't Hold Off Puerto Rico in World Basketball Tournament (Game 1)

2010 NC State Commit and the 2k Pre-Season All-American Team got taken out last night by an older and more experienced Puerto Rico team in the first game of the World Basketball Tournament being held in France. Maybe it was the breakfast of toast and "Nutella" that weighed them down? Or maybe it was the fact that the Puerto Rico team consists of almost all 19 year olds, while the USA squad is working with mainly 16's and a few 17 years olds. Whatever the reason, Team USA is now 0-1. Ryan did not get the start for Team USA and we could not track down his stats, but we'll be making some phone calls and trying to track down those numbers for you.

Article talking about practice the next day indicated Ryan hurt and was icing his ankle.

Heard Ryan's minutes in France should be limited due to an ankle injury that he doesn't want to make worse before the NBA camp coming up...

There has to be something to this injury report. He has been laying A LOT of ball lately, and I'm sure his thin ankles take a beating while he crosses people up on a consistent basis. No torn ligaments, no problem. Ice 'em up, and rest 'em while you're off the court. Young guys heal quickly. I do think they win the first game with a healthy Harrow, though. 19 year olds? Psssht. Go State!

Yeah, it's a hurt ankle, but nothing to do with the previous rumor going around of his knee being injured.

He has been practicing in France, however I'm not sure if he even entered the game yesterday or not. That's what we're trying to find out.

No he has not played due to his ankle. Nothing more than a sprain and tired ankles from all the tournaments and travel.

That pic of Ryan eating the toast is priceless. I'm sure he can't wait to get back to the south, you know he wants some eggs, bacon, and biscuits for breakfast!

yeah, but at 150 pounds he needs to be putting Nutella on everything he eats for the next couple years.

He needs to stop playing for a little while...He has been playing basketball non-stop for what like the last 12 months?? A week off will do wonders for his body and he needs to take that in order to be healthy the rest of the summer and his senior year...

You can't tell a kid like Ryan to stop doing what he is doing unless you are a doctor. He loves the game and he loves to improve. He is living a dream right now traveling all over the country and overseas to play basketball. Hope he heals up and plays well the rest of the summer.

Ryan won't be getting a week off for a while...his summer is pretty packed. The summer before your senior year is the most important summer in recruiting so Ryan wants to be seen by as many scouts as he can and get his ranking as high as possible so he can recruit others to come to NC State.
