Hickson's Back Acting Up

Former NC State star, JJ Hickson, is still feeling the lingering pain of the back spasms that kept him out of action earlier in the season. After an MRI, doctors confirmed that there is no structural damage or disk problems that are apparent. This news is a sigh of relief for Hickson, who was nervous about the prospect of off-season surgery. Although there is nothing seriously wrong, JJ said that it is "very doubtful" that he'll be able to participate in NBA Summer League games this year. The Cavaliers are looking for him to be ready for training camp in October, where he'll be slotting in as a nice compliment to new addition, Shaquille O'Neal. We'll keep you updated on JJ's status as the off-season continues.

^What? You are joking I hope?

JJ has already "made it", he just needs to continue working hard and developing his game.

JJ should be a big time player in the league if he stays healthy.

I was fearing the worst that when the trade went down for Shag that the Cav's would be forced to trade JJ. In a way maybe the questionable availability due to an injury could have helped keep him.

No surgery needed so there will be ways to treat this and get it ready for the regular season.

I think one reason they wanted Shaq was to complement JJ. They have said before that he was untouchable. He is also buddies with LeBron.

I was serious. Not that JJ is their first option but that they should fit together well.

Hey anon, how about if you run along back on over to NNNation, where the amazing ability to go out and recruit one star FB players, (but with potential mind you), is now being portrayed as pure genius.

    And where...

Someone else is also now proclaiming that Herb Sendek has earned the distinction of “Groomer for the NBA"! I guess that is since he FINALLY wised up only after moving to Arizona, dropped his failing experiment, and realized that there are actually young kids/BB players available who have the desire to do more on the BB court than just standing around and wait to heave an occasional three pointer.

Yep, going into only his 14th season in DI, this amazing BB coach now has two more players to add to his very short list of others who haven't yet panned out in the NBA. What a guy, and what a coach! Sorry, I meant to say, “What a guy, and what a GROOMER!”

Yep, those analytical minds over at NNNation aren't slanted in the least bit, and they are certainly looking at everything from a purely statistical and logical viewpoint as far as the FB recruiting goes.

I'd say that there is not one iota of BLIND FAITH involved in any of that at all, wouldn't you anon?

JJ has already "made it", and before his injury, he was very efficient with the limited minutes he saw:

4 points, 2.7 rbs, and .5 blocks in 11 minutes/game. Not bad at all.

if he can get healthy and stay healthy, i think he's going to get more minutes and more stats.

JJ had some really, really good games this year. Those who questioned his decision to turn pro look a little silly right now.

Uh, I for one, did NOT ever question JJ's decision to go pro. What I do question though, was when kept seeing certain NC State fans making it sound as if any kid be an absolute fool to return to NC State for another season.

If you'll look around, other fans at other schools aren't quite so anxious shove their kids out the door and off to next level. Those fans at other the schools actually believe that college in general, is good for these kids/athletes, and that their particular university might even have something to offer these kids.

Apparently though, there are some NC State fans who don't quite feel that way about their university.
