Gilchrist Mentions NC State As A School He Will Consider

Mike Gilchrist is the #1 overall player in the class of 2011. This Small Forward out of St. Patrick High School in New Jersey has been turning heads since he was 13 years old. While many have assumed that Gilchrist was a done deal for Kentucky, he informed KentuckySports.com that he is open to all of his options:

"I'm not a done deal for Kentucky," he said after playing in the Nike-sponsored King City Classic on Wednesday. "I'm still open to all my options, so I'm not a done deal."

Gilchrist mentioned several schools he's willing to consider: Villanova, Louisiana, Memphis, Syracuse, Indiana. "Who else?" he thought aloud. North Carolina. North Carolina State. "Many," he said.

While the probability might be high that Gilchrist ends up at Kentucky, it is interesting to hear the young man emphasize his openness in the recruiting process. It is especially interesting to hear him spout off 7 schools on the fly, with NC State being one of the honored names.

In the article I read, it was his mom who listed NC State with the list you provided...not Gilchrist.

Either way, I was pumped to hear our name when I wasn't expecting it.

Gilchrist's uncle is Worldwide Wes. No way he ends up anywhere but Kentucky.

This kid is big time, he is the best player in the nation regardless of class. Nice to see us mentioned but hopefully Sid's not putting too much time in the kid.

Not trying to hijack the thread, but any update on Mychal Parker? Have our coaches had a chance to see him since the evaluation period started? thanks.

Also, Fowler was on the Buzz this morning, and mentioned that Sid had one commitment for next year, and was very close to another. WPH, who would you say 'the other' would most likely be? I thought that was an interesting statement by LF.
BTW, he also mentioned Lo Brown and the fact that he had yet to clear the clearing house.
Dear Lord, please let Lo Brown qualify to run with the Pack. Amen.

it's nice to know that some of the best players in the country are at least considering nc state. Or at least pretending to consider NC state. This year we were mentioned by at least 3 of the top10 players in the country. If we can win some more games, maybe this will happen more frequently.

Well it must be either CJ Leslie or Luke Cothron since we hear they have only real committable offers and we know that they are focusing on a big. From talking to both of them I'd say that Luke would be more ready to make a decision than CJ...but thats purely speculation.

It's nice for NC State to be mentioned but this is all a front for Gilchrist since Will Wesley will make sure Calipari gets his player.

Cothron will be playing in the River City Showdown with the Memphis Magic AAU team July 13th-15th... Just fyi.
