Harris and Strickland Checking Out Parker In Vegas

Mychal Parker began this summer playing his AAU ball with the Richmond Squires, but as of late he has been rolling with the Ohio Basketball Club squad. Parker is currently out in Vegas and his OBC team is 3-0 (They've won their past 13 games). We talked this morning with someone in the Parker camp and they told us that members of the NC State coaching staff have been at all of his games out in Vegas. Coach Harris was their on the first day and Coach Strickland checked him out yesterday. They believe that the staff is going to try to get Parker on campus some time in August.

While it is true that there is currently only one scholarship available for the 2010 class, and the staff seems set on scooping a big man, next April is a long way off and a lot can happen between now and then.

i have a sneaky feeling (maybe it's hope) that we have a 2010 class of:

    Harrow
    Brown
    Parker
    Cothron

This is the kind of class that can turn an entire program around. Real em' in Sid. We're behind you.

I would love to have parker but im so afraid theres going to be no room for him. Hopefully im wrong and somehow we can move some 'ships around and he will join the Harrow, Brown, Cothron class!!!!

Any word if he has an offical offer from State?

    You read my mind Realwolfpacker!!
Maybe its just cause we are in talks with a bunch of top 50 talent but im scared to think what we coulda had this recruiting year if we had saved the davis and Vandenburg Scholarships. Please tell me im wrong I want to love these guys but I dont see them being a Parker/Cothron type....

I keep hearing all these murmurs about Cothron being projected in the class of 2010. I know WOLFPACKHOOPs' article a few days back spoke about his recruitment and I didn't see indication that State is any better off. I've only heard that he is still considering us, along with OU, AL, WVU, Miss State, KU, UCONN, and it goes on. I know he's a top priority but is he really showing that much interest that fans can can be projecting as a member of the 2010 class? Don't get me wrong I'm all for the optimism, I just get tired of building my hopes up only to have them crushed. Thanks again for all the work you guys put into the site.

Parker doesn't have an offer from us yet. Because if he did...I think he would commit. If JV and Josh become the players we think they will be we have big men. Josh was pitched as a kid who still could shoot up a few inches and add to his frame. Sounds like a solid PF to me, and Jordan should be a good center. I say stick to the plan, beleive in the kids you signed and take Parker. Tracy, JV, Josh, Painter and Howell is enough at the 4 and 5.

So you dont think we should persue Cothron Tank?
I agree the one with the most upside is Josh Davis. His heart obviously is with the wolfpack and to me, if you average 30 points 10 rbs in the tri-7 4A youve got alot of game. If your right, and he does shoot up 2 more inches that gives him 6'7-6'8 and with his hopes and hunger for rebounds he could be somthing. IMO I would rather him practice the next few years like a guard I believe he will be more valuable as a SF who can rebound and be a force on def w/o giving up athleticism. Vandenburg is a total mystery to me. Hopfully he can learn alot in a year or 2 and beable to contribute off the bench. But I dont ever see him as a starting C in the ACC. Only reason I said my comments about those 2 was the fact that little is known about them or how the can contribute and 2nd it would seem, atleast with rankings, cothron and Parker are a safer bet to be big time performers in the ACC.

I think Parker and Ohio basketball Club just lost in the first round of the tournament to New Heights NYC. 74-69. Harrow and the Celtics have a first round bye.

    Pack,

I wish we could have them both, I really do. But if I had to choose between the two I would take Parker. I trust the Davis and JV signings, but stockpiling big men makes me think that we are hedging our bets just in case they don't work out. We don't have any stat sheet stuffers on the roster. Brown could be one, but we obviously will have to wait on him. JV won't have to log heavy minutes until two years from now...I trust Sid to have him ready by then. If we pass on Parker and he ends up at Maryland or Miami I think we will be very sorry.

Did everyone read Eric's comment on the vegas day 3 post?

It seems like Ryan is starting to impress more and more people everytime he takes the court.

On the other hand they didn't seem to impressed with Luke. Maybe he just had a bad day.

I think CJ technically still holds an offer from us, but last I checked we are no longer in his top 5. He's a beast, but total package (skill, character, winning attitude, wants to be at State, not calling coaches by their first name) I would rather have Parker.

Cothron told Justin Young, formerly of Rivals.com that NC State would def. be in his top 3 at the end. Speculation says that Arkansas and Alabama are currently the other two, that would comprise that top 3. We shall see.

Off topic, but WPH guys, any way we could get a Jimmy V Shirt made. Front: Don't Give Up Back: Dont Ever Give Up. -Jimmy V. Maybe throw the website name under that! I really want a shirt like that, is it possible to make it happen. I'm sure others would buy it, or maybe not.

Plus i was REALLY impressed with the shirts i got the first time around with you guys, from the cost, quality, design, and fast shipment!

And you wonder why the other sites have a problem with you guys, and why James Henderson makes fun of this site to everyone (though this particular theft came from The Wolfpacker). You can't allow people to steal stuff left and right.

And no, I don't care if you post this or not but if you guys have the ability to screen what is posted, then don't have people post stuff that other hard-working sites are putting out there for their loyal readers. Just as they would do the same if and when you guys become a pay site.

    It is common courtesy.

I agree that content from other sites shouldn't be allowed. As much as anything I bet James is worried about the considerable amount of info coming from this site compared to his. It doesn't even compare. He needs to pick it up.

    ^Anon,

If this was up on the premium thread at The Wolfpacker, I was unaware of it. Also, the fact that Arkansas was stated to be his leader is in a free Rivals article by Jerry Meyer.

    http://georgiatech.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=968211

Didn't know that we had a problem with the other sites. We have always had a good relationship with James Henderson, and if he has a problem with us we are unaware.

You can think what you want, but we never steal other sites premium information, we have our own sources. If stuff get written in the comments that is premium information of other sites, then there is the chance that we might be unaware of it.

Please let us know if someone leaks another sites premium info, and we will delete it.

^^^lol at the dinosaurs who refuse to let go of the belief that they can own information. And you wonder why people that live in the 21st century laugh at your business model. Good luck clinging to the mindset of newspapers. "The internets stole our news!!" Too funny..

If James or Jacey have any beef with WPH, which they probably do, it should be looked at as a victory for the people that run this website. They are doing what PP and Wolfpacker do, but better, and in a more streamline fashion that makes it easy to navigate. Oh and its free!!

Look, I can't really see this site being free forever, but if and when it does become a paysite, count me as one that is willing to pay. These guys here have proven to outwork and really re-design the way a fan website can be run and in my eyes, they've done it the right way.

This site is easily more NC State oriented and more in line with the good of the program than any other site out there. I just want it to be know that WPH, you have my full support. This is something i feel positive about getting behind and supporting. Don't mind the haters, or the talk behind your back. You have droves of supporters who know exactly what you are doing and will be behind you 100%

    ^Anon,

You mean there was more than one site that posted the infamous Crawford dunk on Lebron and called it an "exclusive"?

    WPH,
I believe there are several wet blankets amongst us that hope to discredit the site. They tend to post under "anonymous," and hate the quality information you provide in your posts. No need to apologize to anyone.

To those of you coming from pay sites...if you like what you see, throw WPH a bone by making a donation (click on donation tab on the home page). They won't ask for it, but they appreciate it.

As for the information I provided from another site...it was a free site and my source site was named. If anyone didn't like it, complain to google, and post somewhere else.

I'm so glad Mychal's name is being brought up again, no offense to any of our current players but I think we're a little weak at the small foward position. I've watched JT in warm-ups and the kid has incredibly hops, but i'd love to see a healthy season and with him graduating this year unless he has a monster season I don't see him returning. Scott has incredibly range and can come off picks but I question his rebounding ability, we know he has problems jumping off both feet, and he has a small frame to be bangin with the big boys in the acc. I feel Mychal has the frame the athletic ability and the range to be a dynamite small foward in the acc. I'm excited about our chances with Luke also, I live near red springs so I had the opportunity to see him play a few times and he is a beast, someone asked if he was a scorer, well I watched him drop 41 on word of god so ummh yea he can score. Regardless of his decision he's a great kid with a bright future(hopefully in raleigh). Some people questioned JD and JV well we can't always go after stars, I beleive Sid may have seen something others didn't and I trust his judgement. It's not how many stars they have when they come, but how many they leave with.

Scott Wood will most likely begin the 2010-11 season as a model for SF in Coach Lowe's scheme. He wanted him early on to play on the perimeter and off ball for this program and he took a chance and offered very early on.

Also in 10-11 Josh Davis will most likely be waiting in the wings if JT has any misfortune (and I'm of the opinion that JT will be the most improved player on the team and possibly the ACC this season). Josh plays to strengths that could be some of Woods weakness' and as the two youngsters expand their games over the years they can rotate in and out accordingly. Lowe as an NBA guy knows how and when to do this.

Mychal Parker would bolster the roster in term of # of elite players- and close the gap between us and a team such as Duke. But Duke has shown over the years that 7-8 McD's AA don't equal the sum of their parts when the team is made up of guys that play the same position and play the same role.

Lastly I may sound tilted vs passing on Parker but on the contrary I'm 50/50. What ever the Lowe decides upon and wherever Parker chooses to attend will be positive for everyone in the end IMO. I'm just countering that the players Lowe has brought in with the addition of Zo and Ryan set us up strongly all over the perimeter for the very near future.

Somebody might be getting their websites mixed up?

James Henderson did have a recent dissagreement with some folks over at NegativeNancyNation, and he went on that site to let them know about it. I'm sure if he had a similar problem with WPH, he'd let them know about it as well.
