RED RALLY AT REYNOLDS!

Who: NC State Basketball Fans
What: Red Rally At Reynolds!
When: Oct. 16th (9pm)
Why: To kick-off the 09/10 Basketball Season

As most of you already know, October 16th is the kickoff day for Men's Basketball. It is the first day that the team is actually allowed to practice. The Wolfpack is rolling out the red carpet in style this year, with something a little different. The Red Rally at Reynolds will be an entire night gearing you up for the upcoming basketball season. The doors will be opening at 6pm for the Volleyball match against Wake Forest at 7pm. Following the conclusion of that game (around 9pm), the fans will have a chance to meet the 2009-2010 Men's and Women's Basketball Teams. They will get to hear from Coach Lowe and Coach Harper about the upcoming season and will get to watch a mini-scrimmage, 3 point contest and dunk competition.

The only thing you have to do is WEAR RED! All fans MUST wear "red" in order to get into Reynolds. There will be prizes, giveaways and one lucky fan will get the chance to compete in a three point shootout with players from the men's and women's teams.

Those are all great reason to come support your Wolfpack. However, there is a more important reason that all should come out and show support. Upon entry there will be a donation collection for former Pack basketball player Brian Keeter who was severely injured in a car accident last year. He is still recovering from a near fatal crash and desperately needs your support and prayers. We have mentioned this a few times, but if you'd like to keep up with Brian's recovery, you can. His family has set up a blog that they update occasionally for fans and supporters of Brian. BKRecover.blogspot.com

All in all, it should be a great kickoff to what should be a very exciting basketball season. We will have more when more information becomes available. For more, check out GoPack.com's Red Rally website which is really well designed and has all the information you'll need.

Seems like they are trying to make it a much more fun event this year with the dunk contest and the 3 pt contest. Too bad Courtney isn't here to throw down some dunks.

I recall attending the (almost exactly) same event before Lowe's second year. It was really cool. The volleyball game lasted longer than expected, but it was well worth it. It wa an exciting time after the run through the NIT and all of the hype around the Hickson class. The thing that I remember most is sitting on the front row of the upper deck, along the sidelines with my 11 year old nephew. Good seats, right?

Turns out, they must not have put the student stands in under the sidelines because the cheerlaeaders se up right in front of us. I didn't think anything about it until several young ladies shot up in front of us, about 4 feet away, holding one of their own ankles! I had to sheild my nephew's eyes! And I thought, "I could be brought up on charges, depending on the ages of these girls, just by looking in that direction!

Suffice it to say, my nephew really enjoyed himself, and I was thoroughly flabergasted! I was close enough to introduce myself, shake their hands, and ask them to stop. I didn't, but I could have!

All in all, it was a fun evening.

Redfred, hopefully, Sid knows that those things have to change. I also remember the scene at Derr track. While "quaint" it did show that the people are what makes this University, not the administration. TOB has been great about inviting/celebrating our (limited) football heritage. Maybe Sid will be influenced to do the same. Somebody is reading the message boards in Wm Raliegh, these days. As evidenced by the reaction to the new uniform designs.

    Go Pack!

i can't wait. i think this is a really great idea making it more of an event rather than cutting into football tailgating the way the red & white game used to do. i love having it in reynolds, there's so much history in that building. i'll be there now that i'm back in raleigh.

Apparently, Luke Cothron won't be playing for State, or any college for that matter.

Not true, as far as I know. Apparently, Cothron is in good academic standing. There was concern earlier with him going school to school, about his eligibility but I don't believe that is an issue anymore.

Without saying too much about grades, since they are off-limits to discuss because of privacy issues, the staff has seen his transcripts and are still recruiting him as hard, or harder than ever. So take that for what it's worth. He'll play college ball.

I read the Cothron article, it is simply an opinion piece, and even carefully uses the words "buzz" and "theory"... I think it is stretch to make those claims, and they just don't make sense.

I am sure he's had conversations with various about all his options.

Glad to hear they're doing something for Brian. I used to play ball with him after he graduated. He embarrassed us all without even trying. Really nice guy.
