NC State commit Ryan Harrow just contacted us and wanted to apologize for how his words in the article that we linked yesterday might have been interpreted. “I want to apologize for how my words were interpreted in the article. I really am not an arrogant person. Anyone who knows me would tell you that I’m a humble kid," Harrow said. "I just answered his questions the way that he asked me and then he put them all together. He asked me which point guards I thought were ranked ahead of me, and what I thought I might do different or better than them. I just don't want the fans to think I'm an arrogant person.”
I can attest that in the numerous times that I’ve seen Ryan play, not once did he come off as an arrogant or selfish basketball player. In fact, more often than not, I found myself thinking that Ryan was being too unselfish.
Please remember that when someone writes an article, they can take your quotes from an interview, mush them all together, and make them come across different than they were spoken in the original context.
Also, on another note, Coach Lowe was in Georgia last week for an in-home visit with Ryan, and he is also down there again today to watch Ryan play pick-up ball with the team after school.

ryan, know that most of your supporters are ecstacic that you strive to be number one anda ren't afraid to say so. don't worry about those few that find fault in every tiny thing.
Ryan, we love you man. Worry not. And remember that every now and then a comment slips in by a poster that they don't really mean either.
I have met Ryan Harrow in Milwaukee at a tournament last year, he is a really good kid. In some interview formats they are baited to say things, remember how old he is. When I met him he had just committed to NC State and he was trying to meet with my son Scott Wood. I remember Scottie telling him welcome to the family. All good players believe in themselves thats why they driven to be the best that they can be. I think everyone on this board would really enjoy talking to Ryan he is just a good kid.
nothing to apologize for, maybe Jeff should email/twitter the players harrow referenced and see if they feel slighted. If anything they would talk good natured smack back.
Jeff are you happy? You got your apology from someone you've never met but are judging based on the contorted writing of a blog (HSH).
Sounds like Ryan just got his first lesson in dealing with the media. Really no big deal though. Awfully glad we are getting him, and he can't get here soon enough.
Once again Ryan proves he is one class individual. To most there was no need to appologize and yet he shows a maturity and understanding that so few his age have reach. Ryan you are not wearing the RED and WHITE yet but you truly represent the Wolfpack ideals well. Can't wait till you get here.

even though I did not look upon the article as him being an arrogant guy, major props to him for stepping up and saying that. All I can say is that his mom raised him right!! haha. Don't worry Ryan..we don't think your arrogant at all and we want u to be the best there is.

I too, am impressed, that he responded. I agree that his words were taken out of context. He wants to be the best he can be, and if you don't believe you are the best, you never will be. Ryan, keep up the great work -- both on and off the court. We can wait to see you running with the Pack!

No need to apologize Ryan. As many have said I think athletes need to be a little cocky and there is a difference between cocky and arrogant.

I think it's good that Ryan came out and apologized but there was no reason to. In order to excel in any sport you got to have the attitude that your the best, If you step on the court saying someone is better or ranked higher then you're lost before the whistle blows. Confidence is good and I feel like Ryan is getting into the perfect situation where he can shine immediatly. I just got a new blackberry storm and i'm able to show everyone at work Ryan's video's and there starting to see why I'm so excited about the future of Wolfpack basketball. I don't know who the best in the class is but I know Ryan is going to a program where he will get plenty exposure and playing time, and he'll also be learning from two of the best point guards that ever played in the ACC.
Major props for going out of his way to clear up any confusion.
Its going to happen alot even if he never intends it to.
That skin better start thickening so he wont be distracted at NCSU. It will be a pressure cooker for sure.

Why are people in sports so freakin soft today? Why is an expression of your ability in an article always arrogant? People that thought he was arrogant need to grow a pair and realize that trash talk has a place in all sports...

Personally i'm pumped for Ryan to arrive in Raleigh. After reading what he said, I am fully expecting him to come in here and believe he can start from day one and fully compete with ACC competition from day one. I haven't seen a personality like this at NC State since Hodge and it is definitely time for one!

No apologies necessary - this probably isn't the first and won't be the last time people comment on what you say and do. Certainly no apologies need to be given to people on a blogging website. Everyone is thrilled (maybe the understatement of the century when reading the responses on this site) to have you come to NCSU. Keep up the hard work you're already doing - it will pay off huge next year.

The article didn't come across to me as arrogant, it came across as confidence and that's absolutely a great quality to look for in the PG of your team.

My son makes fun of me for talking about Ryan Harrow so much. I am more excited about him than any recruit in recent memory. I hope he keeps that attitude. That's a winner's attitude. Definitely a great kid along with unreal skills.

You know, it's interesting; I read the article after reading the short description and the BLOG responses and I have to say, to me there really wasn't much evidence of bragging in my opinion. Perhaps I expected more after reading all of the comments but it didn't itch me the way it did some.

after this year, i think UNCCH and Duke will elite PG's (actually duke will have one this year), maybe Wake too. Can you guys imagine, God willing, that we're gonna have a PG who may be better than all of them, and a shooting guards that rival any of their shooting guards. Have we even had an all acc PG since Corchiani? (I don't remember, its friday).

i know ryan, i go to school with him...alot of people give him the compliments that could blow his head up and make him arrogant...but his is honestly one of the most humble kids ive met, ive never heard him brag or boast once...so a comment like this from him really shows his personality and character, he is truly a down to earth person
