Date: Saturday, October 10, 2009
Time: 9:30am
Place: Wilson, NC (Barton College Gymnasium)
Event: Elite 80 Showcase Camp (NC State commit Ryan Harrow and recruit Luke Cothron)
Admission: $5
Luke Cothron has confirmed that he too will be in attendance until 2pm, at which time he'll be heading back to Raleigh to take in yet another NC State football game. This is more good news for Pack fans who are hoping to land the highly touted big man from Flora MacDonald.
Schedule
The event will begin at 9:30am and the we have been told that the camp will be structured around the State football game, taking into consideration the State fans that want to see Ryan and Luke, but still want to make it back to Raleigh for the game. We are told that both Ryan and Luke will play two full games and they will also hold a dunk contest (not sure if any State targets will be participating) all before 2pm, giving everyone ample time to get back for anyone with tickets to the State/Duke football game at 3:30pm.
Elite 80
We were in attendance at the last Elite 80 in Wilson and got some great footage of Ryan. The camp is structured to have 80 elite players that are looking to be seen by college coaches. The last event was during a dead period, but this one is open to college coaches, so you may see a few familiar faces in the crowd. This event is also being attended by SLAM magazine, and HoopMixTape among others.
If you have some free time Saturday morning, we encourage you to get out to Wilson, NC (@the Barton College Gym) and get a glimpse of Ryan and Luke. You will also get to see other talent you may recognize such as Maryland commit Mychal Parker and others.
If you plan on attending let us know. We'll see you out there. Here are the highlights from the last Elite 80, in case you missed it.

19 Responses to "Harrow, Cothron Attending Elite 80 Showcase"Great job WPH.
So Cothron is coming to yet another State football game. Hmmmm........anyone else see a trend developing?
I think November 11th is going to be a very good day for Wolfpack fans.
Hoops
Are you covering Sid's luncheon at the Sports Club today?
I think it would be great if we could get a good group of followers to attend the games on Sat before the football game!! I know Ryan & Luke would really appreciate it to see a group of red fans in the stands... Maybe a Wolfpack Hoops Section!! haha
As far as I know, barring an unforeseen problems I will be watching these two stars!(fingers crossed!!!) If someone does want to go and cant make the trip, I may have some room in my ride... Just let me know...
WPH- Any charge for admission?
Hoops
I was wondering if you would have any info on a visit of a basketball recruit yesterday. I was on campus and saw him with levi watkins touring the library. Any info on who this maybe?
^ We'll find that out.
WPH, do you guys know what number Ryan will be wearing at State?
I'm starting to think Luke is going to be a two-sport athlete! (That's a joke, BTW)
I would love to check out the Eilte80. Unfortunately, I have a ton on my plate right now. I am going to try to get to the Duke game, but no guarantees there either.
I know that Ryan reads WPH's periodically. I have one tip for him as he prepares to play in the vaunted ACC. Ryan, you have one of the sickest crossovers I have ever seen. As you are honing your craft, keep in mind that ACC officials LOVE to call a 'Carry.' Practice keeping your palm in the northern hemisphere as you crossover. If that hand crosses the equator, you'll get called on it, A LOT. Especially early in your career and at crucial times in a game. I'm not saying that you carry the ball. Please, don't misunderstand me. I am saying that ACC officials, in particular, are looking for something like this to call. Don't give them the opportunity to make the call, and they CAN'T make the call. I'm looking forward to seeing all those shoeless Tarheels after you cross them up, Ryan. Go Pack!
The rumor is that CJL is going to verbal to Kentucky after their Midnight Madness. Any truth to this?
Ill be there at the Elite 80! Heard a rumour that ryan and luke will be playing together... perhaps a sign of whats to come?
^ They'll split up teams when they get there. I spoke with the guy running it and there are no 'set' rosters
As far as the Leslie rumor goes. The people we have spoken with (and this is pretty recent) are saying that he has not indicated to the NC State staff that he is leaning one way or another and they are in close contact with him. If he is in fact about to commit to KY it will come as a surprise to everyone involved on State's end
Unless something happens I will be there to check these guys out.
Does it cost to get in?
Admission is going to be $5, which isn't bad.
Don't quote me on this, but DieHardPackFan might be right...I'm hearing there is a good chance Ryan and Luke will be on the same team for the event.
Luke's likely to pull out, nothing to be gained playing at that event. It's more important for him to be with the NC State coaches and players Saturday morning. Plus, not enough talent there to risk getting injured. Ryan Harrow really shouldn't be playing in that either. Out-playing some future walk-on guards is useless when he could scrimmaging with and against the Wolfpack players and other recruits.
WPH, Any other big name players going to be there besides Harrow, Cothron, and Parker?
I know nothing is definite in recruiting but i just feel our 10' class is gunna be Cothron, Harrow and Brown. I never felt good about Leslie as soon as he decommited.
i dont care if 99% of the players are scrubs,im making the 2hr ride from elizabeth city to watch the sickest pt guard in the nation,i wont miss him this time, and its just a bonus that luke will be there. i got to see luke play at the boo williams in hampton, and he didnt impress me then,so hopefully he just had a bad couple of games back then. also wolfpack hoops, whats the chance on you guys bringing a couple of t's to the event if you got any,id love to buy a few.
^ sorry we're fresh out of T's. We'll probably get some more during basketball season. I talked with J.Sol the other night and we're working on getting the Tshirt thing going again.
Dang, Luke is quite the football fan. And a Pack football fan to boot. I like it!
