I'm Lovin It

I'm loving the rumblings of Lorenzo Brown possibly being a McDonald's All-American this year. I'm also loving the fact that we are still in the running for two shoe-ins on the roster in DeMarcus Cousins and John Wall. If Coach Lowe could bring in one or more McDonald's All-American's it would be unheard of. This is his third recruiting class and it would make it 2 out 3 classes that he inked one. This sets Coach Lowe on a stellar pace for success. If you were wondering who our other McDonald's All-American's have been, you need not wonder any longer.

The first McDonald's All-American game was played in 1977. It only took two years before Coach Norm Sloan had him two in one class. Sidney Lowe and Derek Whittenburg were both McDonald's All-Americans in 1979 and they both played at DeMatha Catholic in Hyattsville, Maryland. Coach Sloan gets credited for two.

Coach Valvano set the bar for recruiting at NC State by bringing in 4 McDonald's All-American's. The first was Ernie Myers in 1982 out of the Bronx, NY. Two years later he reeled in Chris Washburn out of our home state of North Carolina. 1987 was a class to remember, when Rodney Monroe and Chris Corchiani stepped foot on NC State's campus. Both were All-Americans and they both sit at the top of the all-time scoring and assists list at NC State respectively.

Even though Coach Sendek might not be remembered for his recruiting ability, he actually tied the legend himself with 4 of his own. He started off with Damien Wilkins in 1999 and then followed with an in-state find in Scooter Sherrill in 2000. Coach Sendek made it three years in a row when he brought in All-American Julius Hodge. Current Redshirt-Junior Brandon Costner (2005) was the last one for Sendek to bring in before his departure to Arizona State.

Coach Lowe didn't waste anytime bringing in All-American J.J. Hickson in his first recruiting class as the Pack's head coach. With the possibility of Zo getting dubbed this year and Cousins and Wall still teasing us crazed fans, Coach Lowe could establish himself as one of the best recruiters in the country and in NC State history.

Your right j. sol. Thanks. When I downloaded the pdf from the mcdonalds website I searched for NC State and he was listed under Georgia. Good call.

Wall isn't eligible for the McD's game because he is a 5th year player.
