The Ultimate Josh Davis Highlight Reel

We told you on Friday that Josh Davis Hooked us up with a new highlight reel. We were having technical difficulties and we were only able to put up a small sample. Well my friends, the wait is over. This video showcases every aspect of his game. What you get to see in this video that you might not have seen before is Josh's perimeter game, his ability to create and run the break, his ball handling skills, and his defensive game. This kid is a freak athlete and he has a really good skill set. Josh has a tremendous upside. Watch the video...you won't be disappointed.

Looks to be a great athlete and will probably be a big contributor to the Wolfpack in the upcoming years.

Josh was up at the ScoutFocus Showcase today in Wilson (Barton College) to watch fellow NC State recruit Ryan Harrow.

Check 10:55 on the film. Watch how his man drives towards the middle of lane and Josh gets cut off by his own teammates. Instead of doing what 90% of players would do by stopping he slips behind his own guys and shadows the man like a MLB in football to make the block at the rim.

That folks takes more then athleticism- it takes desire and a basic knowledge of knowing the angles of basketball.

Theses were two of the things Lowe mentioned more then a few time this year:
    1) Hustle/effort
    2) Understanding Angles of the game

One thing I really appreciated from this vid was that Josh does get the fundamentals of angles in the game, meaning he is very efficient in the steps and moves he makes. That obviously helps him on offense but it also makes you a better defender because you know what to try and take away from your man to make him less efficient.

    Jose,
Great analysis and you are right about this kid. I think people will slowly start to see that Sidney Lowe has a real eye for talent. It pains me to see so many people on his case so early in his career.

Davis is going to turn out to be a good player and so is Ryan Harrow. Two kids who scouting sites and other coaches looked over will be vital pieces to building a winning team.

Also note that Davis was not a backup plan in a sense. Lowe wanted him but didn't have a scholarship for him. He wanted him to go to prep school and then would offer a 'ship. With the exit of Costner and Ferguson it gave Lowe the leeway to make this move...and he did immediately.

    Ashley-Eliz,
Sorry we didn't let you know! We didn't find out until yesterday that Ryan was definitely coming.

PS. The kid is an absolute monster, he had the whole gym buzzing.

I'm not sure how Davis was overlooked as much as he was. I guess it has a lot to do with exposure (and puberty). He might not be starting the first couple seasons, but the vids suggest that he's definitely going to add much to this team.

Welcome aboard Josh, a lot of us fans are happy to have a guy with your talent and character running with the Pack!

He definitely was not a back up recruit (although being offered after the likes of Cousins and Favors is not anything to worry 'bout).

We did have extra schollies and if I recall there was hope to get one year as walk-on with the very probable outcome of a scholly the following year. Things work out speeding up by some early departs- and that couldn't have been more fortunate- other teams major conference teams were about to offer- Seton Hall was ready to go.

IMO he will have a bigger impact on fitting into a roster of Coach Lowe then a guy like Sandi Macious from eastern europe via Indiana.

    -Good work Matt C.

-Is this kid just a late bloomer, b/c his game looks better than some of the more highly rated recruits we were on earlier

-he has much more of an all around game than i expected

he has always been good his perimeter game hasnt been shown because he is the tallest person on the high school team this year so he was playing mostly inside
