We've been extremely busy this past weekend trying to cover the Boo Williams Invitational for you that we're now just getting back up to speed with the rest of our program. 2009 Recruit, Scott Wood's bid for Indiana's "Mr. Basketball" may have been skewed due to the fact that he's committed to a school out of State or that his team did not make it as far in the state tournament, whatever the case, Wood finished 5th in the voting. (He was expected to be in the top 3) We are very proud of Scott and excited for him to now focus on moving and succeeding at the next level with the Wolfpack.
A few days ago the Chronicle-Tribune ran a great article on Scott and his time at Marion. Check it out if you get a chance. Here are some pretty good excerpts:
“I’ve slowed down some lately, but for a long while I took 500 shots every day,” the younger Wood said. “It’s said that practice makes perfect and you may not want to believe it — but it’s true.” Many times after basketball practice had ended, Luce returned to the Bill Green Athletic Arena and found Wood alone shooting baskets.
“He’s definitely a product of hard work,” Luce said.
Before you read this next quote we'd like to add that Marion High School is known for it's basketball. It has produced 3 Mr. Basketball award winners, and was attended by both Zack Randolph and Jay Edwards who both went on to play in the NBA.
“He’s definitely one of the best basketball players who have come around here,” Marion coach Joe Luce said of Wood. “He deserves to be mentioned in the same breath with all the greats.”
