Sharing the Wealth: NC State Still on John Wall's List

I admit it. The John Wall saga is becoming more monotonous and drenched with drama than "Young and the Restless". Yet it still holds our interest, in part, because his decision holds a lot of weight for whichever program lands the #1 player in the land. Every week it seem a new top tier school enters the picture (Duke, Kentucky, UNC), and every week it seems more NC State fans begin to give up hope that John Wall will pick the Wolfpack.

There is article after article hitting the presses these days mentioning Duke, UNC, Kentucky, Baylor and Kansas as possible destinations for Wall. However, there is hardly ever a mention of the Wolfpack. The recent lack of attention that State is receiving has many in Wolfpack Nation ready to give up, give in, and look elsewhere for talent... but despite the media's ignorance, John Wall continues to list the Wolfpack as one of his final choices, as he explained today to the News and Observer.

Wall said he still had N.C. State, Duke, Memphis, Baylor, Kansas, Miami and Kentucky on his list of posssible schools.

While this is in no way breaking news to anyone following this situation closely, we just wanted to share with you the N&O piece we came across and remind you that NC State is still in the mix with the #1 player in the nation.

I have never seen JW in person but he sounds like someone who tries to treat everyone with respect, the opposite of a prima donna. He has not said that much but probably means what he says. In the end I doubt that creating a superteam is his priority but I bet he will enjoy the reaction of those who presume to know what's best. That just makes him human.

    I Second that.

I still want John Wall to come here though.

Wall is a great kid from all ive heard and we'd be lucky to have him. He's been smart to wait it out and all he's done is answer the continuos questions by reporters all year. dont pre-judge the kid like dook and unc fans did before they started recruiting him. Go Pack!!

I know most WolfPackers are frustrated with the way JW recruitment has played out. But I don't beleive it is because he desires the spotlight. I think he genuinely has not found the perfect fit. Each option has certain pros and cons associated. So he continues to weigh all of his options, which I can respect. Plus there are some issues at play that are beyond his control. As blessed as he is, I think he is a finding this decision to be a tough one. But my biased, selfish perspective wants him to stay local and run with the Pack. His NBA career will be waiting regardless of where he goes.

heard from some people close to wall that he "really wants to stay close to home" due to his mom being ill and that uk is out. he loves Sid but alot of the negativity is prob what is keeping wall and leslie at bay right now. this guy said they "love sid and thinks he's a great father fig.etc and coach"....guess we'll see in a few weeks..my guess is State or UNC

everyones entitled to their opinions, and i can respect that, but ive heard from quite a few people that he can be hard to get along with when things dont go his way.if my mom was real sick, there is no way id drift far from home to go play ball,id want to spend as much time as possible with her as i could, that being one of the big three, definately not 12 hrs away in memphis,or maybe further in kansas.

    > IVE been hearing similar chatter on the wall front. Kentucky might be out and location has become #1 factor. If thats the case the relationship Sid and Wall have will hopefully pay dividends...he's been recruiting the kid for what 2 years and ROy and K just did take notice? please.

^ Nope. We aren't representatives of the university and we aren't trying to convince any player to come here. We're basically a news site that reports anything and everything NC State basketball.

We are also aware of recuriting laws...such as when we can and cannot talk to the commits/recruits.

^ We know you are on top of things, keep up the good work. Any word on Vandenburg or any other bigs for this class?

Since you are not representing NC State, does it really matter when you contact recruits?

Well we'd rather be safe than sorry. So we follow recruiting rules as if we did represent the university. So yeah there are times when we can and cannot talk to recruits, but commits you can always talk to unless they're on campus for a visit.

Ive heard from a few sources that Larry Drew III and his father especially are VERY UPSET that Roy is now going after Wall and is maybe even thinking of leaving if it happens. Could leave UNC in a real whole come 2010-2011. Thats the tricky thing about one and dones!!

Every time I come to the realization that J-Wall is not going to be running with the Pack, I read a story and comments like these and I get my hopes up again. I hate it.
