Harrow to Play in Jayhawk Invitational

Tonight one of our recruits is in action as Ryan Harrow and his Atlanta Celtics travel to Lawrence, Kansas to compete in the 10th annual Jayhawk Invitational. The AAU Tournament is another elite tournament with some big names competing, such as the top player in the 2010 class, Harrison Barnes. The tournament will be set up like most of the AAU events, where teams compete in pool play for the first day and then are placed in a bracket based on their record in that pool. The winner of the bracket is the winner of the tournament and each team is guaranteed at least 4 games.

As we mentioned earlier, Phog.net highlighted Ryan as a player to watch and went on to add this breakdown of the NC State commit:

Ryan Harrow, PG, Atlanta Celtics- Even though he’ll be one of the smallest guys in attendance, few at the Jayhawk will be able to match the future North Carolina State floor general’s eye popping athleticism. Quick and built to score, don’t be fooled by his slender frame.

Ryan will be joined on the Celtics by Jordan McRae (4 Star), who is committed to Tennessee; Trae Golden (4 Star), who is uncommitted, but holds offers from Kentucky, Pitt, Marquette and Georgia Tech; David Williams (2 Star), who is committed to Indiana, along with others.

Ryan and the Celtics will play their first game tonight at 9pm, followed by 2 games tomorrow (1:50pm, 4:10pm). We at Wolfpack Hoops will do our best to keep you updated on Ryan's play all weekend long.

Getting exposure to the evaluators will not be an issue for Ryan. He plays in a tourney every weekend. Keep working hard Ryan. Wolfpack Nation can't wait for you to get here. We're the best fans in the nation and when you take us back to the glory land you'll be a NC State legand. Keep up the good work.

Awesome, thanks for such the quick update. I was wanting to ask you a question. I would love to try to get this website more publicity so that that could turn in to hopefully more exposure and more donations would it be okay if I spoke with a good friend of mine and try to get your ad posted in the newspaper of my local area. I am in Rocky Mount and the Rocky Mount Telegram is huge! If I could pull those strings would you guys be alright with that? let me know thanks! also ha ha the question that everybody has been lingering with wall any kinda update or is he visiting chowan college today?

    Thomas,
That would be awesome. As of now we haven't been able to advertise yet based on our limited funds and what we do bring in usually goes right back into travel and video equipment for the site. We would be more than happy if you could pull some strings though. If you could maybe send us what the ad would look like or we could send you something we have made up already.

As for Wall...we got nothing. I texted him last night but no response. John Wall is easily the hardest of any recruit we've ever dealt with to get in contact with . We'll keep trying though, don't you worry!

I'm absolutely lovin' this coverage of the AAU circuit that you guys are coming with. One reason that basketball prep ratings are more reliable then any other sport is due to the AAU clashes- and Ryan has come with a hunger and drive to get to the top.

I have a haunch that Lowe will go after with all he's got a verbal commit from Painter. If he can get enrolled it prob won't be right away- guessing aug. but maybe even second semester where he could RS the rest of year.

By all accounts he is an outstanding recruit in terms of potential- what may be lacking is mental focus and a willingness to work harder then he can imagine. There is nothing wrong with a kid like that; it's sort of common for athletes who are so gifted to get into a rut of not busting their rear.

What Lowe may see in him is a lot of JJ Hickson. What impressed me so much about JJ was how hard he worked on his game even before he stepped on the college hardwoods. If Lowe can get Painter to buy into that plan then we could end up with a player of that type of caliber for 3-4 yrs. Worth the extra look of this weekend for sure.

    Mike -

Haven't heard anything about Painter committing. Just know that the staff has a great weekend set up for the kid.

    Green Lightning -

We should have up a new Harrow Video by Monday at the latest. Check over the weekend. It may come out sooner.

Can't wait for the Painter commit to happen, but concerned about scholarship availability for Cothron/Leslie/Parker.

    Wolfpack Hoops,

Let's move on and get as much information as we can on DeShawn Painter!! John Wall out of his own mouth has told Frank Haith he is going to go to Kentucky or Miami so that rules us out! Any update of how Painter visit is going>>???

    ^"Let's move on..."

I'm definitely interested in the Painter recruitment, it sounds like he'd be a good asset.

But I really appreciate any news or videos of Harrow that WPHs is willing to provide. It sounds like Harrow want to get a lot of experience over the summer, and he's finally getting the attention he deserves. We're lucky to have a guy with Ryan's abilities and character committed to running with the Wolfpack!

It's going to be fun to look back on these early videos after RH is a dominant ACC point guard!

This is a case of hard work! Ryan is a better person than a ball player! great family and support system. Great things are going to happen at NC STATE! I can't wait for the season!!! I'm blessed to know him and the family. Man what a long way from being told by a coach" You can't play in a system" life lessons and haters make LEADERS AND CHAMPIONS!!!
