Harrow and Cothron Prepare to Take on Vegas

In case you missed it, 2010 recruit Luke Cothron is teaming up with 2010 Wolfpack commit, Ryan Harrow and his Atlanta Celtics for a few tournaments including this week in Vegas. Wolfpack fans everywhere are hoping that this is simply a preview of whats to come in 2010, if Cothron were to decide to run with Sidney Lowe's Wolfpack. The 2010 class is already shaping up to be something special, as Harrow (a 5 star point guard) will be joining his God-brother Lorenzo Brown (4 star shooting guard). With one more scholarship available (numbers wise). With the guard positions looking solid for years to come, Lowe and company are looking to land a big man, and that is where Cothron comes in.

We've just received word from Vegas that Ryan, Luke and the Celtics will be taking the floor at 11:40am PT, to take on Grassroots Canada, a team littered with D-1 talent. Grassroots is led by 5 star stud recruit, Tristan Thompson (a Texas commit). We, at Wolfpack Hoops, have seen Grassroots play on a few occasions and they are surely one of the hottest AAU teams in the nation right now. Ryan, Luke and company will surely have their hands full, but with a healthy Harrow and the addition of Cothron, it's hard to see the Celtics being taken down by anyone.

We'll be providing updates throughout the next few days with scores and stats, so keep checking back for the most up to date Wolfpack recruit coverage on the web.

**We have confirmed that Coach Harris is going to be out in Vegas catching the games, while Coach Lowe will be down in Orlando checking out Tobias Harris, Damontre Harris and Dezmine Wells as well as others.

Maybe Sid and Ryan can kidnap Luke and bring him back to Raleigh! j/k!

I really do hope that they have a great time playing together. Luke can get a taste of what life could be like with Harrow supplying the dishes in Raleigh. And, it gives Sid and Ryan a chance to sell NCSU, and the WHALE of a recruiting coup that the '10 class would be, should Luke join up!

I really believe that Sid can sell any recruit with a simple fact. If we can play, and beat the teams in our conference/state, then the NCAA tourney, and a great path through it, would be a lock! With Ryan, Lo Brown, Luke, Painter, T. Smith, S. Wood, Howell, Mays, CJ Williams, etc., this team starts looking like a serious contender!

    Go State!

You're right...you throw Harrow, Cothron and Brown into the mix with what we would have returning and LOOK OUT. We would absolutely be a contender and could run with any team in the country.

I dare say thses "grassroots" has a pg that can stop ryan AND a post man who can contain Luke. No doubt Sid AND Ryan are in Lukes ear and its no coinsidence he is running with Ryans AAU team, he hand picked who he wanted to run with.

Oh how sweet it would be to come back with the Celts winning the tourney and even more importantly, returning with a commit from Cothron!!!

WPH any cameras there watching so we can get a glimse????

I dunno man... that grassroots canada team is diesel. I'll be very impressed if the Celtics can knock them off.

WPH, great article and keep up the good work!

Does anyone know if Luke or Ryan had anything to do with getting together on the same team? I mean did one pull any strings to get together with the other? Or was this just dumb luck?

I'm thinking, if one or both made the effort to play on the same team, then it was most likely so they can get a preview of what it would be like to play together at State.

I just don't think this could possibly be a coincidence.

Can't be a coincidence! That's the exciting part about it. Now, not playing together constantly may be an Achilles heel when it comes to taking on Grassroots. Luke has to come in cold, and try to fit into a group that he isn't all that familiar with, but if Ryan can get him acclimated (his job as a PG) quickly, that would show a lot of leadership skills to his future Head Coach. And that would show Luke what kind of guy that he could run with for 3-4 years! Go Celtics, and Go Pack!

Okay I keep hearing about this Ingram cat... How come he only had 2 offers, one from ECU and one from, i believe, texas tech. If he's as good as people are trying to make him out to be, where are all the offers?

Bo Ingram wants to play for NCSU more than NCSU wants Bo Ingram. His grades are lackluster at best which scares away alot of potential schools. And with State already having one player with grade troubles, I would highly doubt sid takes another chance on a mediocre student. Just my opinion though.

Ive heard hes a true baller though.

Id rather go with that 6'10 kid from fayetville whos flying under the radar. Damontre Harris.

We got the chance to catch up with Ingram a couple of weeks back at the Pro-Am. We have a small highlight reel and video interview that will be up in a couple of days. Ingram is definitely interested in the Pack. The manager of the league out there told me that Oklahoma St. is also interested.

My question is where does Ingram fit? Whose scholarship is he going to use up?

Tobias Harris the guy from NYC? If so he is on fire right now but doesn't project as a big man- more of a killer scoring wing.

Great to here this ball is on in Vegas tonite- who knows, maybe big Luke is all that is needed to put the Celts up there to the top. Sure hope so and that Ryan gets his props as well.

Young Luke, fight the evil empire, become one with the WOLFPACK. It's your destiny.

Grassroots Canada is honestly probably one of the best AAU teams we've seen on the circuit. They play a fast paced team game....(the "team" part being very rare in the AAU game). The Celtics, however, have been great all summer with their only weak spot being a true big man. Enter Luke Cothron, who is one of the best in the nation. It should be interesting to see how well they play together. As soon as they update us, we'll update you.

As far as Ingram goes, he is a real talent, but the 'ship situation isn't in his favor. Now if he wants to walk-on I think the staff would be more than happy to take him, but with other big name schools on him, I wouldn't hold your breath.

About the Cothron to the Celtics situation. He told us that it was set up through someone affiliated with his AAU team that has a connection with the Celtics. As for WHY the Celtics...i dont' think you have to look any further than Ryan Harrow, who is surely one of our best, most relentless recruiters.

It would be unfortunate if Johnny Thomas knees get worse but if some reason JT couldn't continue playing Ingram would be perfect to fill his slot

What is all this talk about Ingram, hello has everyone forgot about a great wing by the name of Mychal Parker!

Ingram could come in 2010 with two years JUCO experience under his belt, plus he is a real hustle player on defense and does a number of things well.

He would def. be a role player, but still a solid pick up if we have some attrition or can't sign another top-flight player.

Parker's stock has dropped due to some lackluster performance recently, he is going to have to really step up to be an impact player at a school like NC STATE

And I knew it couldn't have just been dumb luck, or a coincidence! :)
