Wolfpack Recruiting Tidbits

- 2010 Wolfpack commit Ryan Harrow is scheduled to be in Wilson, North Carolina (@ Barton College) this Saturday to participate in the ScoutsFocus.com Elite 80 Fall Showcase. This would be a good chance to catch a glimpse of Harrow if you haven't had the chance yet (and if you're not planning on attending the NC State vs. Duke football game). You have to give it to Ryan for constantly attending showcases and camps such as this one. He is never satisfied and has publically stated that he attends camps like these because it is his goal to be ranked as high as he can in the 2010 class and also play with other elite players and let them know why he chose NC State. (We've mentioned before, Harrow is certainly one of the Pack's best recruiters.) Luke Cothron is also scheduled to appear at the showcase, but we have not confirmed that yet. Dez Wells and Quincy Miller, were both on tap to attend, however, Wells has pulled out and Miller is getting over a small injury at the moment, so neither will be there this weekend. Stay tuned, because although Ryan is slated to be in attendence, things can always change and we wouldn't want you driving all the way to Wilson and missing the football game if no State recruits were there to watch. The event will get started at 9:30am.

- Speaking of Luke Cothron, the coaching staff visited with the 2010 PF today and it reportedly went really well. As we mentioned earlier, NC State is the leader right now in the Cothron sweepstakes and that has not changed. Things with Cothron are certainly heating up and we'll be there every step of the way to let you know the latest on Luke.

- We spoke with Tony Edwards, the coach of the CP3 all-stars about 2011 prospect Dez Wells and 2013's Rodney Purvis. We'll have an in-depth interview with Tony up here in the next week, but we did want to clear something up about the 2013 prospect, Purvis. In the article we reported that he was about to turn 16, which was what we were told, however, Edwards let us know that Rodney is in fact only 15 years old and will not turn 16 until February. There were a lot of questions about why he was so old for an incoming freshman. This should clear up all of that.

great news! I have tickets to the Duke game, otherwise I'd be there for sure to see Ryan.

Good news on Luke..i hope you guys are right about us leading for him! That would put our class in the top 5 nationally.

Well unless Cothron is lying to them or WPH is lying to us, i assume we lead for Luke.

"Well unless Cothron is lying to them or WPH is lying to us, i assume we lead for Luke."

That may be the truth, or at least what Luke is saying. But it doesn't necessarily mean he'll end up at State. Hopefully the readers understand that "State is his leader" doesn't necessarily lead to "he signed for State" ..... but hopefully it does.

What time is this event? I live in Rocky Mount, so it would be a short drive for me.

I have heard that State is definitely leading for Cothron at the current moment. The key words being "at the current moment". Things change in recruiting real fast. However, the State staff has made Luke their number 1 priority. They have visited his high school quite a bit recently and have had an in home visit and Luke has come up for all the home games. I wouldn't put it past Luke to sign in November...as a WOLFPACKER.

Fayettevilles paper put out an article, basically questioning Harrow's commitment to NCSU and saying he probably won't sign in the early signing period.

Do you see him signing in the early period or are you expecting him to wait?

Fayettville's Paper has no creditable source nor does it look out for the wellbeing of the university... They look for web-hits and controversy...

I spoke briefly with a scout about Miller last night and he mentioned that Quincy is hurt right now (nothing serious) but is just focusing on getting back out on the floor and getting ready for the season. He told me that nothing has really changed much about his recruitment, but that Kentucky is a serious player in the process. Asked about State and he just said that he think Miller hasn't ruled anyone out just yet.

The Fayetteville Observer article was all speculation. Ryan is all set to sign. Not sure exactly when but he's already setting up plans to sign...and he'll be doing it in Raleigh.

Unrelated, but ESPN is putting out a college basketball encyclopedia where they rank all 330 Division 1 college basketball programs based on some intense statistical analysis. Anyway, we were 22nd on the list. Notable schools we're ahead of include Syracuse, Connecticut and Georgetown. Interesting list. They have it posted as free content on their website right now if you want to go check it out.

    ^Bradford:22nd? Is it rated 1 = best? I can't see that

Yes, 1 is best. It's a weird list. There's an article on ESPN ripping the list (a little internal argument apparently) because of how certain statistic were used. I just thought it was interesting.

Yes, I thought I had mentioned that it was all-time but now I see that I did not. Just a cool little comparative thing. The encyclopedia should be interesting.

I've been nervous this whole time and I know you guys kept saying he was coming and not to worry, but c'mon...we're all Wolfpack fans here and I think you can understand why we'd be nervous!
