VIDEO: CJ LESLIE: 2009 Boo Williams Nike Invitational

This is our first CJ Leslie(#5) video from the Boo, and it's a pretty good snippet of what CJ Leslie really is. The kid is scary good. We've seen him a few times in high school as well as at the Carolina Challenge and this is the first time I've ever felt that he is actually playing players that are up to his level, and it makes a big difference. His performance was still stellar, but his passion and motivation seemed to go up a great deal when challenged. The kid can do it all...dribble, shoot, defend and hammer it down with ease. We've watched a lot of high school basketball and I'm not sure I've witnessed live, a player with this type of ceiling. Although D-One lost, Leslie led his team on an emotional surge that brought them to within 5 at one point. CJ ended with 20 points and around 10 boards.

**And yes, that is fellow NC State target Deuce Bello following a Leslie miss with a monster slam.

whats the status on Leslie? i know he is looking around but where do we stand? Usually when a prospect decommits that spells doom for the school that caught the ax. Who is pushing hard for Leslie and again where do we stand in that mix?

Wolfpackhoops i know you got the anwsers. . .

We talked to two people this weekend that are very close to C.J. and they said that State was still very high on his list. We are still very much in it with Leslie. At the end of the day we have been on him longer than anyone else. His mother is very favorable towards the Pack, and I think deep down C.J. is to. When you spell all of this out does it mean that C.J. will come to State? No, not at all. Who knows what will happen between now and next April. The kid has tons of colleges coming his way and a big decision ahead of him. With all this being said, just know that we are still big players in the chase for Leslie. Don't believe media sources that tell you other wise. We'll just have to wait and see.

...Again here are my ideas on some thoughts/questions that the die-hard Pack fans visiting this cool site bring.
...please don't mis understand where I'm coming from as one having any personal knowledge. I admire from a far the outstanding job people like the ones running this site do in building trust and comminication lines with those "in-the-know" and reporting with honesty/integrity.

But every one of us can take a look at some facts sorrounding each individual sitiution and draw to some degree a good case for why/why not a recruit would play for Coach Lowe.

    CJ Leslie
    Why it's in doubt
..(Besides the obvious that recruiting and "the unknown" go han in hand) There is the strong notion that a recruit decommitting themselves to an ahletic program and University spell's concern for that Coaching staff in the days ahead. Generally it has nothing to do with the personality / background of that individual; instead the fact that when anyone takes a change in course it is human nature to feel a sense that their judgement be self-justified. Initially everywhere you look around things seem better then they seem because your mind is thinking a change would do you good.

    But the good news is..
It's going to take all the energy and talents of these other high profile programs to match the strong foundation and trust Lowe has built with CJ.

Also, I think there may be a wild card stacked in the Pack's deck and that would be a certain NBA future Hall of Famer that Coach Lowe coached for a three years. Lowe knows as much about how to get Leslie into that mold then anyone on the college beat. Let's hope CJ gets some feedback somewhere along way from his favorite NBA star
(for you shoe endorsement conspirators- know what brand KG sports- thats right the three stripes.

^ great post Jose. Sidney is doing everything, within his powers (and within the rules) to land these high end recruits. A few years ago NC State was a hard sell. Today you look at the top 3 players in the nation and NC State is or was on all of their lists. Credit coach Lowe on that, he's getting in with the best of the best and it's only a matter of time before being "listed" with the top guys becomes "signing" the top guys

Hopefully CJ just wants to explore his other options and receive somemore attention, and you can't blame him. But hopefully we'll play solid next year, some of our freshmen will be contributing immediately, and leslie will realize how benefiical it will be to play with a backcourt comprised of brown and harrow!
